What I Do

I work with individuals, families, couples, teens and children, - when their parents are involved. As a counselor for over 25 years, I have considerable experience working with marriage and divorce, blending families, substance abuse, affairs, grief, depression, anxiety, communication issues and issues arising from various family stage transitions.  I work with all couples. I  previously taught both advanced family counseling and advanced marriage counseling in a graduate program. 

 I am not a therapist who listens, says "uh huh", "uh-huh" and then says "I'll see you next week".  I ask a lot of questions, help you get to the root of what you are seeking to understand or change and I suggest things to think about or do differently to assist you in making progress on what you'd like to accomplish between sessions.

I use Signing Exact English (Sign Language) at the intermediate / advanced level. My signing skills are better than my receptive skills.
